Welcome to the "Original" Dynasty Rankings Fantasy Football Blog

This blog was born out of a Dynasty Rankings thread originally begun in October, 2006 at the Footballguys.com message boards. The rankings in that thread and the ensuing wall-to-wall discussion of player values and dynasty league strategy took on a life of its own at over 275 pages and 700,000 page views. The result is what you see in the sidebar under "Updated Positional Rankings": a comprehensive ranking of dynasty league fantasy football players by position on a tiered, weighted scale. In the tradition of the original footballguys.com Dynasty Rankings thread, intelligent debate is welcome and encouraged.

Hey F&L,
Is this where you would like to get opinions regarding player rankings?

I have been thinking about Brandon Jackson lately. He didn't start off his career well. No doubt. He's probably going to be behind Ryan Grant next season as well.

Not sure if you caught this post by wdcrob, but its interesting to say the least. http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=334302&hl=wdcrob

Jackson solidified himself later in the season as Grants backup, and performed well in week 17. There's plenty of guys ahead of Jackson in your rankings right now that don't have nearly the upside that he does. His career has yet to be defined IMO, and it still may be a very bright one.

Grant performed well this year and he is the presumed starter, but he is not an uberstud, and his role is not untouchable. It is not inconceivable that Jackson could even beat him out in training camp this offseason.

Happy offseason

Hey Kitrick,

Good to hear from you. I'd say go ahead and reply either here or the old Dynasty Rankings thread....but it doesn't look like anybody is using that thread for discussion anymore. But if you're more comfortable there, by all means feel free go there instead.

Re: Brandon Jackson. I see your point, but here are my issues:

1] How high do you think he should go? Which guys should he leapfrog?

2]Regardless of wdcrob's work, I was left unimpressed every time I saw him play. I also thought he was a reach in the 2nd round.

3] I don't have any problem whatsoever carrying an extra guy on my roster if I think he has a chance to be special and if I have reason to believe he'll got a shot at some definite point in the future. I'm not sure where Brandon Jackson fits into that picture. With questions about his talent and no sure sign of opportunity any time soon, is he just dead weight on your roster?

I don't have any problem moving him up a tier or so, but I guess I'm waiting for a strong argument in his favor.

And in response to your closing sentence, I DO think it's very much inconceivable that Jackson would beat out Grant in training camp. Barring serious injury, it's just not happening.

The Packers love Grant.
