Welcome to the "Original" Dynasty Rankings Fantasy Football Blog

This blog was born out of a Dynasty Rankings thread originally begun in October, 2006 at the Footballguys.com message boards. The rankings in that thread and the ensuing wall-to-wall discussion of player values and dynasty league strategy took on a life of its own at over 275 pages and 700,000 page views. The result is what you see in the sidebar under "Updated Positional Rankings": a comprehensive ranking of dynasty league fantasy football players by position on a tiered, weighted scale. In the tradition of the original footballguys.com Dynasty Rankings thread, intelligent debate is welcome and encouraged.

Full Contact: Conference Championships

#1 Seed: WARRIORS [+111]

Likely Week 3 Lineup:
QB:
#Philip Rivers, SD - #3 @ New England [-1]
RB: Ladainian Tomlinson, SD - #3 @ New England [0]
RB: Laurence Maroney, NE - #1 vs. San Diego [9]
WR: Chris Chambers, SD - #3 @ New England [4]
TE: #Antonio Gates, SD - #3 @ New England [0]
TE: Kevin Boss, NYG - #5 @ New England [0]
K: Nate Kaeding, SD - #3 @ New England [12]
D: Chargers, SD - #3 @ New England [5]

Outlook: Warriors need a major Chargers upset over the Pats, which is not gonna happen. Still, a monster game out of Tomlinson or the Chargers defense with Chambers chipping in and Maroney moving on could leave Brad with a very realistic shot.

#2 Seed: BACKYARD ALL-STARS [+70]

Likely Week 3 Lineup:

QB:
Tom Brady, NE - #1 vs. San Diego [6]
RB:
WR:
WR:
TE:
TE:
K:
D: Patriots, NE - #1 vs. San Diego [3]

Outlook: BYAS need the Packers to lose or for Ryan Grant to do the bulk of the scoring in the win. They also need Tom Brady and the Patriots defense to do some heavy lifting on the scoreboard while Welker and Moss are held to reasonable numbers. It's a small window right now...

#3 Seed: UNDERPAID ACTION HEROS [+107]

Likely Week 3 Lineup:
QB:
RB:
WR:
WR: Wes Welker, NE - #1 vs. San Diego [9]
WR
:
WR:
K:
D:

Outlook: Underpaid Action Heros need Welker to keep scoring and for the Packers to either lose or have their passing game and defense held in check the rest of the way.

#4 Seed: CHODA SODA [+55]

Likely Week 3 Lineup:
QB:
RB:
RB:
WR:
WR: Plaxico Burress, NYG - #5 @ Green Bay [9]
WR:
K:
D:

Outlook: To be blunt, Choda Soda's only hope right now is not to finish last. They need a Giants win with Plax finding the endzone a couple of times.

#5 Seed: BOPPERS [+100]

Likely Week 3 Lineup:

QB: Brett Favre, GB - #2 vs. New York Giants [8]
RB:
RB:
WR: Greg Jennings, GB - #2 vs. New York Giants [0]
WR: Donald Driver, GB - #2 vs. New York Giants [11]
TE: Donald Lee, GB - #2 vs. New York Giants [8]
K: Mason Crosby, GB - #2 vs. New York Giants [8]
D: Packers, GB - #2 vs. New York Giants [3]

Outlook: If anybody is sitting in the driver's seat, it's the Boppers. They simply need the Packers to win and for Ryan Grant not to hog all of the scoring. Karen is staring down the barrel of her first Full Contact championship right now.

#6 Seed: THE FLORIDA FLASH [+58]

Likely Week 3 Lineup:
QB:
RB:
RB:
WR: Randy Moss, NE - #1 vs. San Diego [0]
WR:
WR:
K: Stephen Gostkowski, NE - #1 vs. San Diego [3]
D:

Outlook: The Flash need Moss and Gostkowski to outscore Brady and the Pats defense over the next three weeks, which is an unlikely yet possible scenario. Even if Moss blows up, Flash will likely need a Packers loss this weekend.
