Welcome to the "Original" Dynasty Rankings Fantasy Football Blog

This blog was born out of a Dynasty Rankings thread originally begun in October, 2006 at the Footballguys.com message boards. The rankings in that thread and the ensuing wall-to-wall discussion of player values and dynasty league strategy took on a life of its own at over 275 pages and 700,000 page views. The result is what you see in the sidebar under "Updated Positional Rankings": a comprehensive ranking of dynasty league fantasy football players by position on a tiered, weighted scale. In the tradition of the original footballguys.com Dynasty Rankings thread, intelligent debate is welcome and encouraged.

Rotoworld Article | Top 20 Dynasty League Buys

My latest Rotoworld article went up last week. The Cliff's Notes version is below, but you can click here for the full article.

As veteran Dynasty leaguers have come to know, the NFL is too fluid and too dynamic to simply take the previous year's stats and project that production onto a player's future value. Injuries, trades, free agency, coaching changes, and supporting cast all have a hand in obscuring the big picture each offseason. In other words, your job as a Dynasty owner is to allow the other owners and pundits to project last year's production onto 2009 expectations while you judge player values on talent, situation, and track record.

The discerning Dynasty owner reacts to the NFL's constantly changing landscape, which means keeping a healthy amount of turnover on your roster outside of your young nucleus. Because any player in the NFL can post a great season, the goal is to weed out the players taking advantage of ephemeral situations while acquiring the top shelf talent that has the ability to string together years of fantasy glory. The best way to ensure success is to become knowledgeable and intuitive enough to develop strong hunches, and then follow your instincts.

With that in mind, let's take a look at 20 players that should top shopping lists this offseason.
